Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born in Bay City, Michigan August 16, 1958, the daughter of Sylvio and Madonna (Fortin) Ciccone. She was baptised Roman Catholic. She married Sean Penn August 16, 1985. They divorced in 1989. She has one child, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, born October 14, 1996. She is CEO of Maverick Records based in Los Angeles, California.
Madonna’s albums include Madonna 1983, Like a Virgin 1985, Like a Prayer 1989, The Immaculate Collection 1990, Bedtime Stories 1994, Frozen 1998. As of 1998, eleven of her songs have been number one hits.

She is the author of a best-selling book, Sex published in 1992.
